STG Names Rick Parkington CTO

Reston, VA – November 9, 2011 – STG has hired respected industry veteran Rick Parkington to serve as its Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), a role in which he will be responsible for the development and implementation of STG’s technical solutions. In this capacity, Mr. Parkington will oversee STG’s solution architect team and internal IT division, and will have reachback throughout the company. 

“Technical solutions are what make the difference for our customers to fulfill their missions, and I was drawn to STG by its commitment to bringing meaningful solutions and capabilities to our customers,” said Mr. Parkington. “As CTO, I will be able to leverage resources from the entire company to ensure the solutions are steered from the appropriate experts, mitigating risk while fostering innovation.”

Before joining STG, Mr. Parkington served as VP and CTO of the Intelligence Solutions Division at General Dynamics Information Technology. He holds an M.S. in Engineering and Information Management from The George Washington University, an M.A. in International Relations from Salve Regina University, an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Mr. Parkington has spoken at national and international conferences on a range of technical topics, including cloud computing, cyber security, data management, managed services, and mission-focused social media. Prior to industry, he served a distinguished 21-year career as a U.S. Navy pilot.
