STG understands the importance of corporate citizenship and the responsibility of giving back to the community. That is why STG serves as a corporate sponsor to key organizations. We actively encourage and support employees' contributions to worthwhile causes. STG matches employee contributions to select charitable causes and events.
The STG family supports a number of charities:
Special Olympics of Virginia
Since 2003, STG has participated in the Dulles Plane Pull to benefit Special Olympics, Virginia. Fielding a team of 20 employees (and many other volunteers), our employees donate their time and money to this fun worthwhile event. All employee donations are matched by the company, which raises more than $100,000 each year for the program. Special Olympics Virginia gives Virginia's athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts and skills with their families, friends and community. By using sports as a vehicle for social change and self-discovery, Special Olympics Virginia strives to open the hearts and minds of every Virginian to the value and ability of persons with intellectual disabilities.
The Wounded Warriors Project (WWP)
WWP is a Florida-based charitable foundation that seeks to assist the men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations around the world. Their mission is to honor and empower those veterans who have dutifully served a grateful nation with full military merit. STG is a corporate sponsor of WWP.
In addition, STG supports the annual Wounded Warriors Career Fair and Job Training event organized by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Rehabilitative Services. In this event, STG managers and employees help attendees with resume writing, mock interviews and job placement assistance.
Angel Flight/Mercy Medical Airlift
Angel Flight is a charitable organization of pilots and volunteers who arrange free air transportation for chronically ill patients, usually from rural areas. There is an ongoing need to transport patients with rare diseases and regular medical treatments to places like Johns Hopkins and the American Red Cross. This program enables patients to get care at the many outstanding medical centers located in the Washington/Philadelphia/New York corridor. Several STG employees donate their time (and their personally owned aircraft) to this worthwhile charity that is dedicated to saving lives. STG supports this effort by giving employees time away from work to pursue their individual philanthropic efforts.
STG is proud to sponsor several community events and booster clubs in Sierra Vista, Arizona, home to one of our largest customers. We sponsor numerous local softball and football teams (men's, women's and coed) ensuring that, regardless of team record, everyone who participates is a winner.
The Diplomatic Security Foundation (DSF)
DSF provides timely financial support and charitable contributions to members of the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service, security professionals and other colleagues in law enforcement and foreign affairs communities. Each year, STG assists DSF with their annual golf charity event through sponsorships, prize donations and contributions of time and resources. We encourage our vendors to participate and give to the event; we also work with organizers to publish and produce their annual golf tournament program at no cost to the organization.
LINK, Inc. (LINK)
LINK is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit emergency support organization serving the Herndon, Sterling and Ashburn communities of Northern Virginia. This organization provides donated food and financial assistance to qualified people in need. Each year, STG participates in LINK's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, working with employees and local businesses to solicit donations of more than 1,000 pounds of food.
"I just wanted to say thank you after the event. The program looked fantastic and received rave reviews! ...A huge thank you! You certainly made my job and life much easier. Enjoy the summer!"
